Types of information we provide This web site provides a wide range of patient education materials,
continuing medical education articles, and various media (videos and
photos) on orthopaedic conditions.Patient education materials We have a large database of patient education articles, mostly in the areas of arthritis and the shoulder.
We will be adding new articles as our faculty finish them. You can help
us out by asking questions and letting us know what kind of information
you're looking for.Information for medical professionals You'll notice that some of our articles have been written for
physicians and specialists in orthopaedics. We've provided these for
both medical professionals and for patients who need technical
information about their conditions. The Residents, Fellows, & ACEs
section contains information about our residency, advanced
clinical experience, and fellowship programs. Additionally, you'll find
several CME (Continuing Medical Education) articles for physicians
wishing to learn how some orthopaedic conditions are diagnosed and
managed.Multimedia You'll find movies of exercises, surgical techniques, and anatomic
descriptions in many of the articles in this web site. These movies
were produced by our faculty. A list of all the movies on this site is
available here. Instructions for viewing the movies can be view by clicking the Quicktime icon that appears next to the title of the movies.
Some of our movies were produced by UWTV and are in streaming RealMedia format. You can find these longer movies produced by UWTV here.
Tabs At the bottom of each page is a navigation toolbar with links to the major sections of this web site.
Each section corresponds to a
different area of study in Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
The sections are grouped according to the
common specialties in which orthopaedic physicians focus areas of the body that orthopaedic physicians treat.
Articles Most of the content on this web site is organized into articles. The
articles are multi-page groups of text, images, movies, and other files
that share a common subject. For instance, the page you are reading now
is part of an article. How to read the articles On the left side of each page in each article is an index of all the
pages available in that article. Additionally, there is a list of the
sections into which the current page is divided. You can click on any
of the words in the index to go to that point in the article. You can
move to the next or previous page in the article by clicking "<<
Previous" and "Next >>" at the bottom and top of each page (if
you are on the first or last page of the article, only "Next" or
"Previous" will be available, respectively). How to print the articles
Because you may want to print an article and share it with your doctor
or your family, you can view a single-page version of any article by
clicking on the "Print Complete Article" link on the left side of the
