Society for Biomaterials | | Philosophy of care/General Information: | From 1981 to 1984, Dr. Tencer was Assistant Professor of Surgery,
Biomedical and Medical Engineering, at the University of Texas at
Arlington and Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Health Science at
Dallas, Texas. From 1984 to 1988, he was Assistant Professor of
Surgery, Biomechanical Engineering, University of Texas Branch,
Galveston, Texas. From l988 to the present, he has been an Associate
Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Adjunct Associate Professor of
Bioengineering. Dr. Tencer is a key figure in the research endeavors of
the residents and fellows. As the full time director of the
Biomechanics laboratory, Dr. Tencer has the expertise to analyze and
critique the projects on an ongoing basis. He provides the very
important skill of helping to design the testing method to evaluate the
principle under scientific consideration. Dr. Tencer has a very acute
knowledge of the clinical scenario and how to devise the experiments
that truly represent the clinical situation with biomechanical
principles for analysis of ligament tension, joint loading, fixation
fatigue, etc., that represent sound scientific principles. |

The University of Washington Medical Center was again ranked highly for
orthopaedic surgery by US News and World Report, this year being listed as 15th
in the nation.
Dr. Cavanagh has been invited to deliver the keynote talk at the International Osteoporosis meeting
Dr. Beingessner, Assistant Professor, received 2008 spring quarter's HMC CARES Service Excellence Award.
Dr Henley has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
Dr. Leopold lectured recently in San Francisco at the annual meeting of the
Hippocrates Winslow Babbage Foundation.
