Administration Medical Center in Seattle. He also serves as professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Washington in
Seattle.
Smith serves on the Research Committee of the Foot Care Council of
the Americal Diabetes Association and is a board member of the
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Association. His accomplishments include
developing footwear to prevent diabetic foot ulcerations and directing
a prosthetic research study dedicated to advancing function for the
amputee and preserving the limb at risk.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of
Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, Smith received his medical degree at
the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago. He
completed his residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood,

Dr. Beingessner received the Howard Rosen Memorial Teaching Award at the Cincinnati AO Principles Course
Retired orthopaedic surgeon Frank Alvine, UWSOM 1964 and Orthopaedic
Surgery Residency 1972, has been named as an inductee to the South
Dakota Hall of Fame by its Board of Directors.
