Common Surgeries Performed:Common surgical procedures include standard open reduction and internal fixation techniques, minimally invasive stabilization methods, and use of locked plating.
Common Diagnoses Treated:Care of complex periarticular fractures, particularly involving the tibial pilon, tibial plateau, and elbow. Orthopaedic management of the polytraumatized patient, and late post-traumatic reconstruction are also a significant focus. 
Philosophy of care/General Information:Management of fractures continues to challenge us. Specialized care is imperative to maximize patient outcomes.  The team at Harborview is one of the best in the country.

An interview with David Barei, M.D., FRCSC Dr. Barei was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Despite living in the Automotive Capital of Canada, he pursued higher education north of Windsor, first studying in the biologic sciences at The University of Western Ontario in London. Subsequent to this, he pursued his medical degree and orthopaedic residency in the Nation’s Capital of Ottawa, Ontario. Read More

Dr. Leopold lectured recently in San Francisco at the annual meeting of the Hippocrates Winslow Babbage Foundation.


Dr. Maheshwari, orthopaedic resident, has been nominated by the Program Director and Chair of Orthopaedics to attend the 2008 AOA-OREF-Zimmer Resident Leadership Forum.
