Dr. Trumble was featured in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for reattaching a hand as part of a "daring" rescue. The Seattle P-I ran the story on February 6: "Man's hand reattached after daring rescue at sea: A clean cut, ice and pure luck save the day; shipmates and a gutsy copter crew save him".

The Sunderland Society | | Board Certification: | Board Certified | | Philosophy of care/General Information: | Dr. Trumble received his Medical Degree at Yale University School of Medicine in 1979. In 1984 Dr. Trumble completed the Orthopaedic Residency Program at Yale New Haven Hospital and the Yale University affiliated hospitals. Dr. Trumble completed a Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at Duke University in 1994 and a Hand and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1985. Dr. Trumble established a Hand and Microsurgery Program in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Yale University School of Medicine in 1985. In 1989 he was recruited to develop and Hand and Microvascular Surgery Program at the University of Washington.
Dr. Trumble's research interests include nerve regeneration both from a basic science as well as a clinical standpoint. Dr. Trumble is also involved in biomechanical research, particularly research related to fractures and injuries of the hand and wrist. The current area of research emphasis on the Hand Surgery Service is the use of outcome studies. Dr. Trumble has received grants for the prospective randomized studies of carpal tunnel syndrome and flexor tendon repairs from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as a grant to determine the factors effecting return to work following carpal tunnel surgery with a grant from the Boeing Corporation. An interview with Thomas E. Trumble, M.D.
Dr. Trumble is a professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and Chief of the UW Hand & Microvascular Surgery Service. Dr. Trumble received his Medical Degree at Yale University School of Medicine in 1979. He has been at the University of Washington since 1989, when he was recruited to develop a Hand and Microvascular Surgery Program at the UW.

in the nation.
Dr. Cavanagh has been invited to deliver the keynote talk at the International Osteoporosis meeting
Dr. Beingessner, Assistant Professor, received 2008 spring quarter's HMC CARES Service Excellence Award.
Dr Henley has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
Dr. Leopold lectured recently in San Francisco at the annual meeting of the
Hippocrates Winslow Babbage Foundation.
